Dear Arielle,

It’s Saturday night, the end of Shabbat, and I want to write so that you get a letter on Sunday.  Unfortunately, since your letter the first day, we haven’t heard from you.

Possibly the letters are all in a pile in your bunk or maybe held up in the mail.  I guess we’re going to get a few on Monday.

We thought about you a lot on Friday night, with beautiful weather, hoping that you were having an amazing first Shabbat at camp. I wonder which outfit you decided to wear for your first Friday and Saturday?

Today we went to Jack and Doug’s for Shabbat lunch, together with some of Jack’s orthodox relatives. Dani was pretty quiet but OK – she was happy playing with their birds and also happy singing birkat hamazon.  Dad took her to Crystal Lake for the H-dock test this evening and she passed!  She’s still swimming. I know she’s writing you a real letter, and we’ll mail it tomorrow. She is trying to keep her promise of writing you every week.

The weather is absolutely gorgeous, thankfully – the hot humidity last week was atrocious.

It’s lonely and quiet around here. Mike comes around, Sonya was here on Wednesday, but very quiet. Dad is painting the little roof over the side door, white so far.

Maybe tomorrow Dad and Dani will take a drive somewhere.  Maybe to a beach.

I can’t wait to hear a bit more about what you’re doing. How’s the food? Are you eating better? Are you exercising at all? Running?

I sure hope you and Aaron get to see each other a bit and even spend some time together. Please let us know how he’s doing.

His BarMitzvah plans are still up in the air since Cantor’s little congregation may be disbanding. We’re looking for a place to rent for the service.

Just a tiny bit of panic. Otherwise we print: “time and place to be announced” on the invitations. Just kidding. Sort of.

We hope you are having lots and lots and lots of fun. And staying healthy and not eating too much candy or soup.  We miss you tremendously. Sometimes Dani just starts crying, when she thinks about you guys being away.  Visiting day is 3 weeks from tomorrow, still a long way away in her mind and also in mine.  I really do miss you, especially those midnight chats.  Dad falls asleep early or otherwise comes to bed late. He’s great at so many things, but he is no good at chatting in bed.  I’m sure you’re doing a lot of chatting in your bunk!

Ps we saw one picture of you in a group on the website. You were the one not smiling L but I tried not to be surprised or disappointed.

So Lels, Enjoy enjoy and enjoy.

We really love you. Really really!

Love

Mom,   Dad & Dani
